Training
Recognizing a need for better trained detectives to investigate crime, the Fairfield County Chiefs of Police Association started the annual Detective School in 1962. The governing body of that school went on to become the Fairfield County Detective Conference. Staying true to that mission, the conference continues to host the school annually and engage in follow-on training.
Detective School
The Fairfield County Detective School in held in April of each year. The current President's agency serves as the host for the training. Course includes 70 hours of training and students must complete a test and compile a notebook. Awards are given for the Honor Graduate, Top Notebook, and Second Place student.
Follow-on Training
Detective School graduates are encouraged to continue learning through attendance at the monthly meetings and taking training courses for specialties such as financial crimes, computer crimes, sexual assault investigations, and other disciplines.
